Amalgam Removal Protocol
1) Panoramic X-ray
A Panoramic x-ray has much less radiation than a traditional full set of eighteen (18) smaller x-rays and it much more comfortable for the patient to have taken. The panoramic x-ray can also be taken very quickly which is especially helpful when a patient is in pain. The panoramic x-ray can show us a patient's nasal area, sinuses, jaw joints, teeth and surrounding bone. It can also reveal cysts, tumors, bone irregularities, and it helps us in locating mercury fillings which can be in form of a tattoo in the gum or inside the bone. It also helps us precisely locate a root cannal or titanium implants and cavitations.
2) Biocompatibility Test
This is a blood test which a patient sometimes needs to check the type of dental materials used in fillings or restorations from dental laboratories. It is important that the materials used are biocompatible to a patient's immune system and does not cause a negative reaction.
3) Electrical Readout of Each Filling or Metal Restoration
It is important that we check the electric potential of each filling or metal restoration before we begin to remove them. If we check fillings and they have a negative current, those fillings or restorations must be removed first. Any fillings or restorations with a postive current will be removed last. This is done to give to immune system a better chance to recuperate in case of disease.
4) Oxygen Nose Mask – Rubber Bam
Oxygen is very important for our patients when we remove mercury fillings. The metal fillings are cut with a metal burr which can produce mercury vapor even so that high cuantities of water is sprayed thru the hand piece, so to product the patient from in haling this vapor the nose protected. With the protection of a robber bam we can remove mercury fillings with out having or dust that comes when we are cutting of the metal fillings.
5) Vitamin C I.V.
Vitamin C has been know for years to cleanse the liver, to help the bowels move to work with collagen, to help intestinal flora, and is very helpful has a heavy metal chelator.
